Exciting news from IFAC CAMS 2024! We’re thrilled to announce that our latest research on risk mitigation for autonomous inland vessels will be presented at this prestigious event, where global experts in marine systems, robotics, and vehicles come together.
Our paper “A POMDP model-based online risk mitigation method for autonomous inland vessels” introduces a cutting-edge method based on a Partially Observable Markov Decision Process (POMDP) for real-time risk mitigation in autonomous surface vessels (ASVs). As ASVs become increasingly vital in the maritime industry, addressing risks from internal and external factors like traffic, weather, and faults is crucial. Unlike traditional methods, our approach considers both the vessel’s guidance and control systems, ensuring safer and more reliable operations.
Join us as we explore how this innovative POMDP model, powered by Bayesian belief networks, can enhance situational awareness and decision-making in hazardous conditions. Don’t miss our case study demonstrating this method in action with an autonomous vessel navigating a confined waterway.
